Save or Splurge: faux leather leggings

It has been a MINUTE since I’ve done a save or splurge post! I love putting these together because sometimes you see something that you know is your ideal style, but the price point means you have to really evaluate if it’s worth it to you. Personally, I am trying to find the balance of investing in quality pieces I love and will wear for years, and keeping things budget-friendly. Today we are talking about Spanx faux leather leggings.

SPLURGE // PROS

• quality – I have had mine for years and they look as good as day one.
• fit – sooo flattering! the waistband comes up high enough to not give a muffin-top while having some seriously good control to keep you smooth and shaped in all the right places. just keep in mind you may want to size up. i typically am between xs and small and the small is just right.
• versatility – these look as good with sneakers and a sweatshirt or hiker boots and a flannel as they do with heels and a dressy top.
• comfort – i was so surprised at how comfortable these leggings are! you would think because they are “control” they must be crazy uncomfortable but i am more than happy to lounge in mine all day long!
• opaque – no booty showing through is a major must that these leggings nailed.

SPLURGE // CONS

• price – $98 is steep for a pair of leggings

SAVE // THE BREAKDOWN

This save version of the Spanx faux leather leggings have amazing reviews! Seriously it has almost 5* from over 3k reviewers who say the look of the leggings identical to the Spanx version.

Here’s some highlights:

• the sizing is similar to Spanx – size up if in between sizes
• a few said these have a tad extra shine to them compared to the Spanx
• less compression so more comfortable
• quality is good but not as good as the Spanx version

I think the save version is great if you are not quite sure how much use you will get out of the leggings, and are just looking to add a little variety to your closet. For a great price, you still have the same versatility but sacrifice some quality and the signature smoothing fit of the Spanx leggings.
