One trend of the season that’s in no way slowing down is leather. Whether you’re wearing faux or genuine leather, it’s a fun and incredibly chic way to elevate your wardrobe. When it comes to styling faux leather pants, it can be tricky to find the right balance between looking stylish and not overdoing it. But with the right tips and tricks, you can definitely find the perfect look. Here are some ideas for how to style leather pants, plus some dos and don’ts to help you out!
How To Style Leather Pants
One // Leather Chic
This look is all about keeping it simple but still looking classy. Throw on a blazer in a contrasting hue to your faux leather pants, like white or light grey, and pair it with a basic tee for a chic finish. Add a pair of stilettos to create a streamlined look.
Two // Modern Lady
If you’re wanting a feminine twist to your faux leather pants, a silky blouse or bodysuit tucked in with a pair of heels is an easy and stylish outfit combo. Accessorize with delicate jewelry for a modern clean look or a chunky chain necklace for a contrasting hint of edge.
Three // Laid Back Vibes
If you’re wanting a more casual look with your faux leather pants, opt for a slouchy oversized sweater and sneakers. The contrast here creates a laid-back look that’s perfect for more dressed-down occasions.
Four // Street Style
If you want a cool girl-streetwear look, then this idea is for you. Pair your leather pants with a graphic tee and a bomber jacket, then finish it off with a pair of high-top sneakers and a beanie.
Five // Party Girl
Use your leather pants as the base of your party outfit. Pair with a feminine silk cami or better yet – a sequin top – as a perfect way to add some sparkle and glam to your evening. Keep the look balanced with some heels and a structured tote.
How to Style Leather Pants – The Do’s and Don’ts
DO
- Keep the rest of your look simple, choosing only one other stand-out piece.
- Use the leather pants to elevate an outfit you would wear with black jeans.
- Play up the versatility of your outfit by swapping out shoes to transition from day to night.
- When in doubt, go back to the basics – a plain t-shirt and sneakers or booties is a perfect option.
DON’T
- Don’t over-accessorize. Faux leather pants are a statement on their own, so don’t overdo it with accessories.
- Don’t pair your leather pants with a leather or suede jacket. Just like with the accessories, the pants are enough of a statement!
Here’s How I Like to Style Leather Pants for Everyday Outfits
Just a quick note about the (faux) leather pants I’m wearing here – I absolutely LOVE them. The cut is slim – not skin-tight or too baggy – making them very versatile. They are super comfortable to wear and easy to move in. They are faux leather but look and feel genuine. The stitching on them is impeccable. Also, the inside of it is super soft, so I never feel like I’m peeling them on/off. Perhaps the best part is you can wash and dry them! They run true to size, I’m wearing 2/26 because I did not want them too tight in the leg.
