I don’t need a ton of stuff, but if I own it I want to LOVE it. Otherwise it’s a waste of space and just becomes clutter. Nope, not for me. So I literally try everything on, walk around, compare…ladies I do my research! Maybe that’s over the top but at the end of the day, you all benefit from it too. So here’s my list of the best shoes for this crisp fall weather, to carry you right into winter!
skip to the end for direct links to my favorite shoes for fall
Vans – I’ve talked about these before, but these have to be one of my favorite shoes ever purchased. I love the black perforated leather. These look fantastic with everything from leggings to dresses, but my favorite look is with classic denim skinnys with or without a bit of distressing. I wear a size 8 in these (typically between 8 and 8.5) so if you’re between sizes I recommend going down!
Caramel Colored Booties – If I was to own one pair of booties they would hands down be in that honey caramel tone that looks fantastic with LITERALLY everything. I have owned this pair for several years and love the pointed toe & slightly western feel of them. They sell out fast so if you see them snag them! Looks-wise these will never disappoint. Here’s the thing about the fit of them – that lovely pointy toe combined with the heel can be a killer to the feet after a while. But they kinda MAKE the shoe. So here’s my solution for this problem: size up a half size and purchase these gel inserts (which are life for any heeled bootie/shoe FYI!!). It adds the perfect amount of cushioning and makes high heel shoes sooooo much more comfy! Make sure to size up in them whether or not you use the insert. Here’s a few other beauties I came across in that same lovely tone:
Chelsea Rain Boots – I own tall Hunter boots too but I have to say, these are my new fave rain boots. My sister-in-law knows…I went back and forth between the matte and glossy for a while but in the end went matte and SO GLAD I DID! They actually don’t even look like a rain boot. And they DEFINITELY don’t look like a less-than-$25-boot (!!!). Here’s the thing with the sizing…I am generally 8.5 in boots. These only came whole sizes and of course, the 8 was too small, 9 was giant. So like any modern Goldilocks would do, I checked out the only other option – 8 WIDE. Ladies, I am NOT a wide by any means, but these fit pretty perfect. I had a simple foam insert at home that I use and it makes it extra comfy, but it fit great even without it. If you are a wide generally, then you may just want to go the next size up. Anyways that’s my hot-tip in these. For under $25 I think these are a total win!
Target Flats– Did you catch these Free People look alikes on my Target try-on sesh? Since then I have been loving this shoe. I have worn them sock-less or with ragg socks and ankle jeans. Either way, total win. Originally I got the size 8, but after wearing them in my house a few hours, I knew I needed to go up to the 8.5. MUCH comfier. Plus they better fit the socks. Overall I would say they run more TTS, as opposed to on the bigger side I originally said. Sorry about the confusion! The Free People version are super dreamy – they feel great, come in a ton of colors, and since they are leather, will wear a lot nicer than these (non-leather). But the trade off is the price. For under $35 you kinda can’t beat it. Plus they don’t have that fake leather look. Let’s just call them vegan leather, K?
Coach Slides – I got these vintage Coach slides yeeears ago and still love them. This year especially, slides/mules are definitely having their moment. I especially love how they look with ankle jeans…skinny or wide leg. While the pair I have is no longer in stock, I’ve had my eye on these beauties for a while:
I’d love to know…any shoes you are loving during this cool fall weather? I’d love to know about them!
xx,
rae
