Leading up to my due date there was one big thing I neglected to prepare for. ME. I totally did not realize how fragile I would feel as a new mom. It wasn’t until I was in this fourth-trimester phase that I realized all the little things I could have done to better prepare. Today I am sharing my top 13 postpartum essentials every new mom should have, in no particular order. They could also make a great care package tip for your favorite new mama…trust me, they will thank you!
Top 13 Postpartum Essentials
- peri spray – so calming and soothing. A must have for your postpartum kit!
– nipple butter – a healing blend that’s safe for baby.
– sitz bath – use with epsom salts or the herbs blend below for a healing bath.
– sitz bath herbs A soothing blend of herbs, recommended by my doula friend!
– stool softener – have this and take it. unless you prefer to send your husband out for an emergency pharmacy run. #truestory
– pain relieving spray – sweet relief!
- epsom salts – great to use in the sitz bath (alternate with the herbs blend) and in the tub to soak away your sore muscles as soon as the doc clears you for a bath!
- ice pads – brilliant!
- witch hazel liners – I love the full length of these.
- silicone pump – YouTube is loaded with the best way to use these, but it’s such a great idea to start using it in the early nursing days to collect all the extra milk. It adds up!
– bath robe – this is the exact robe I lived in for the first few weeks. I love the tie dye, and felt put together with minimal effort. although this bath robe looks like a very cozy option.
– slippers – i lived in these. such a cute yet minimal option for a spring/summer slipper.
– water bottle – makes drinking your water so easy, and such a great new mama color!
These items (plus a lot of dry shampoo and “mookies“) made all the difference in the first few weeks. If you have some favorite postpartum essentials, please share!
